Sriram Institute of Marine Studies

The followings are the minimum requirement as per the guidelines of Directorate General of Shipping:

(a) Qualification:

Min Pass class X, SSC, with Eng, Mathematics and Science with a total aggregate of 40% marks;
Must have scored 40% in English either in class 10th or 12th

(b) Medical standard:

Eyesight 6/6 with No aids on both eyes
No Colour blindness
No Deformity in body
Meets the requirement as laid down in (MS Medical rule 2000)

(c) Age: Min 17� yrs & Max 25 yrs. as on the date course starts

(d) Preferable qualifications:

Able to read, write, speak and understand English language
10+2 (PCM) pass

Procedure:

The institute receives lots of applications for admission for Pre Sea GP Rating course, to select the obedient, responsible, intelligent and talented candidates we have the following system for selection of candidates

(a) The selection procedure is active through out the year to select the candidates for the course starting from 01st Jan and 01st July of every year i.e. candidates can reach office an any working days along with:

Original class 10th certificate and mark sheet issued by the concerned education board.
Registration fees (Part payment of actual course fees) Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees forty thousand only)
Passport size photograph (2 in nos)
Photocopy of passport or proof of apply of passport (desirable)
Pen, pencil etc.

(b) On arriving in the institute, the Original documents will be checked for genuinely;

(d) Submit the registration fees and photocopy of academic documents;

(e) And the applicant shall be provided with:

Sample test paper for entrance test;
Letter confirmation for attending the entrance test;
Slip for Medical Check up; and
Receipt of registration fees.

(f) A written entrance test shall be conducted on 13th June and 13th Dec of every year. The test will be as per the sample test paper and compromises;

General English (Tense, preposition, Voice, narration, etc.)
Arithmetic (General question on less, profit, percentage, multiply, equation, addition and general reasoning;
General/current knowledge
Objective questions on sea, ports, ministry of shipping who's who
Total around 50 (Fifty) question. No separate answer sheet will be supplied. Duration of test will be 50 minutes only

Declaration of result:

Result shall be declared on the same day and successful candidates will be issued with admission confirmation letter and joining instructions. These candidates shall be asked to report institute with the following documents between 14th June to 23rd June/December:

Original documents of class 10th & 12th
Photo copies of original duly attested by school principles
Medical fitness certificate (From 'E & F') issued by a DG Shipping approved doctor
Photocopy of passport
30 in no. (Size 3.5" � 3.5") coloured photo in white shirt with white background
The Demand draft of remaining (After deducting- registration charges) fees favouring of M/s Sriram Institute of Marine Studies, Payable at Delhi
Symposium of hostel printed/typed on an affidavit of Rs. 10 and duly signed by the candidates and parents/ Guardian.
Security deposit (refundable) Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only)

Refunds:

The unsuccessful candidates in the entrance test can take their registration fees in full or may carry forward their registration for the successive batch.
The successful candidates shall attend the course from 01st July/January
After taking admission if a trainee wishes to withdraw from the course, no fees will be refunded view no substitute can be admitted. However the security deposit will be refunded on completion of course.
